Privacy policy
DEEPLAB is an open research platform. You can read everything on de3plab.org without an account, and we collect as little about you as we can. This page explains exactly what we do collect, why, and who else handles it.
The short version
- No cookies, no advertising, no tracking or analytics scripts.
- We only receive personal information you choose to send us: through the contact form, a newsletter sign-up, or a question in the ask box.
- We never sell or rent your information, and we use it only for the purpose you gave it to us.
- Email founder@de3plab.org at any time to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
Contact form
When you send us a message we receive your name, email address, phone number if you add one, the subject and your message. We use them only to reply to you. The form is delivered to our team inbox by Web3Forms, an email-forwarding service, so it passes through their systems on the way to us.
Newsletters
If you subscribe, we receive your email address, the newsletters you chose and the page you signed up on, also delivered to our inbox through Web3Forms. We use your address only to send the newsletters you asked for. Every newsletter will include a way to unsubscribe, or you can email us and we will remove you.
The ask box
Questions typed into the ask box on the homepage are sent to our server and then to an AI service that writes the policy brief — currently Google Gemini, and possibly Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI. Only the question is sent to them, not your name, email or IP address. Please don't type personal information into the ask box.
We keep a log of questions (the question, the time and whether it was answered) to learn what people want to know and to improve our research. This log contains no information about who asked.
To stop abuse, we limit how many questions one visitor can ask per hour. To do this we keep a one-way, scrambled code made from your IP address and the date — never the IP address itself — and the code changes every day.
Things every website receives
- Our host. The site is hosted by Hostinger, whose servers, like all web servers, record standard logs of requests (IP address, browser type, page requested and time) for security and operations.
- Fonts and chart software. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, and our chart library loads from the jsDelivr and unpkg content delivery networks. Your browser contacts these services directly, so they see your IP address. We don't send them anything else.
- Links to other sites. Links to LinkedIn, data sources and other websites are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.
Staff sign-in
Only DEEPLAB editors sign in to the site, to publish content. Sign-in happens through GitHub, using a small Cloudflare service we run for that purpose, and the sign-in is stored in the editor's own browser. Readers never need to sign in.
How long we keep information
We keep messages and subscriptions for as long as we need them to reply to you or to send the newsletters you asked for, and delete them when you ask. The ask-box question log has no personal information and may be kept to guide our research.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, at any time, by emailing founder@de3plab.org. You can also write to us at 1238/1, East Shewrapara, Mirpur, Dhaka.
Our research and data
Our research, charts and data are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, so you are free to reuse them with credit. They are built from published statistics and surveys, not from information about visitors to this site.
Changes
If we change how we handle information — for example by adding a new service — we will update this page and the date at the top.
